The Dipartimento di Economia Politica (Department of Economics ) was founded in 1987. Its members are professors of economics and related disciplines from several faculties of the University of Siena. It hosts a PhD Program in Economics and concurs to the organization of a PhD Program in Law and Economics. It hosts a Fulbright Chair. Several research centers have their seat in the Department. In May 2010 most of the members of the former Department of Quantitative Methods have joined the department. Since May 2011 it assumed the new name of Department of Economics and Statistics.
