The Department is located in the building of the Faculty of Economics, in piazza San Francesco 7.

By car

You can't enter the city center by car without a permit. However, it is possible to park at the Parcheggio San Francesco in via B. Peruzzi: an escalator near the parking lot will take you directly to the Faculty of Economics.

To reach Siena from North, exit A1 motorway at Firenze Certosa (57km North of Siena). Directions.
Distances: 370 km from Milan, 170 km from Bologna, 70 km from Florence.

To reach Siena from South, exit A1 motorway at Valdichiana Bettolle-Sinalunga (50 km East of Siena). Directions.
Distances: 240 km from Rome.

By bus

Bus lines arriving to Siena are:

• Tra.In/SITA from Florence, terminal next to railway station Firenze S.M.N. (the journey takes around 1h15).

• SENA Autolinee from Rome, terminal next to railway station Roma Tiburtina (the journey takes around 2h35).

Buses arrive at piazza Gramsci (also known as La Lizza), which is at walking distance from the Department of Economics.

By train

Unfortunately, it is not very easy to reach Siena by train.
The average duration of the journey is:

• 1h20-1h55 from Firenze S.M.N. (you might be required to change train at Empoli)

• 2h-2h30 from Pisa Centrale (you are usually required to change train at Empoli)
• 3h20 from Roma Termini (you must change train at Chiusi, or get to Florence)

Siena railway station is outside the city centre: to reach the Department you need to take a taxi or a city bus.

By plane

The closest airports are:

• Aeroporto Amerigo Vespucci (Firenze)
  From the Airport you can reach Florence downtown in 20 minutes with the Sita/Ataf bus, leaving every 30 minutes. From the bus terminal downtown you can either take a bus to Siena (which is usually faster and leaves more frequently), or reach the railway station nearby and take a train. It is also possible to book a taxi; the average duration of the car journey from the airport to Siena is about 1h10min, the cost is about 100€.

• Aeroporto Galileo Galilei (Pisa)
  There is a railways station inside the Airport. To reach Siena by train you need to change train at Empoli. It is also possible to book a taxi: the average duration of the car journey from Pisa airport to Siena is about 1h20, the costs is around 130€.

• Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci (Roma Fiumicino)
  There is a train linking the Airport to Roma Termini railways station, where you can take a train, or to Roma Tiburtina railways station, where you can take a bus to Siena. It is also possible to book a taxi; the average duration of the car journey from the airport to Siena is about 2h45, the cost is about 280€.
